My story is of course, Christopher.
Christopher, my son, was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life without parole at age 18. He was arrested at age 16 and remained in jail until his trial. He was convicted unjustly and is serving time for a crime he did not commit.
Christopher was actually over 15 miles away from the scene of the crime when the murders occurred, passed out drunk.
We are a low income family, single parent family and we had a court appointed lawyer. Christopher was totally destroyed over the media coverage, both newspapers and Television. We never stood a chance in this town but we were denied change of venue and our lawyer did nothing to fight the judges decision.
He was tried as an adult, and did not have a previous criminal record.
I have been writing letters and making phone calls for seven years now, and haven't been able to find anyone to help us. Then I met my friend and I have been monopolizing her computer ever since. I will not give up until I get my son out of prison.
Christopher is now 23 and it takes every bit of energy I have to keep him hopeful.
Hopefully we will find someone who will take on our cause to save Chris from spending the rest of his life in prison.
